Russia and Tunisia have urged for political settlement in Libya as soon as possible

A meeting took place between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Tunisian Republic Khemaies Jhinaoui on the margins of the 5th ministerial session of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum.

 

 

According to the Press Office of the Russian Foreign Ministry, diplomats have discussed the most pressing issues of further strengthening the traditionally friendly Russian-Tunisian relations in various spheres, including the upcoming 7th meeting of the Russian-Tunisian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic and scientific and technical cooperation, which will be held in Tunisia on April 24th-26th.

 

 

During of discussing regional issues, the special attention was paid to the situation in Libya, with emphasis on the necessity to establish a sustainable inter-Libyan political process under the auspices of the UN. The final purpose of the political approach, as noted, is the formation of unified institutions of government capable of effectively solving the tasks facing the country, including the fight against terrorism.
