Russian Defense Ministry planes with evacuees from Afghanistan landed in the Moscow region

Russian Defense Ministry Il-76 planes involved in the evacuation of Russian and other countries' citizens from Afghanistan landed at the Chkalovsky airfield in the Moscow region, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

 

"Russian Defense Ministry military transport aircraft involved in the evacuation of citizens from the Republic of Afghanistan landed at the Chkalovsky airfield in the Moscow region," the report said. The planes delivered citizens of the Russian Federation, Armenia, Belarus, Ukraine and Afghanistan.

 

"At the moment, the passengers are undergoing customs and anti-COVID control," the agency specified.

 

Earlier it was reported that three airplanes from Russia, which delivered humanitarian cargo to the airport of Kabul, flew from Afghanistan, 205 citizens of five countries were on board.


Il-76 aircraft of the military transport aviation of the Russian Air and Space Forces were sent to Kabul on the instructions of the Russian president on Thursday to evacuate Russian citizens from Afghanistan. They also carried 36 tons of humanitarian cargo to Kabul for the people of Afghanistan.
