The joint Russian-Turkmen secondary school, named after Pushkin, welcomed 190 first-grade students on September 1, according to the school's director, Irina Kuminova.
"This year, the school has admitted 190 first-graders. In total, the school now has approximately 1,700 students," she stated.
The celebration of the Day of Knowledge at the school commenced with the national anthems of both Russia and Turkmenistan. Subsequently, dance groups from the school performed, students presented skits, and recited poems. Russian Ambassador to Ashgabat Ivan Volynkin and First Secretary of the Embassy Evgeny Lykov extended their congratulations.
In his message, Ambassador Ivan Volynkin stated, "Dear teachers, parents, dear students, and of course, our first-graders, I congratulate you on the Day of Knowledge and the start of the new academic year. Education holds immense significance in today's world; it instills self-belief, purpose, and serves as the foundation for new victories and accomplishments."
Established in 2002, the school gained a new building in 2009, inaugurated in the presence of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Turkmenistan boasts a total of 70 Russian-language schools.
