Chairman of the Group recalled that nowadays the number of Muslims in the world is 1.7 billion people and continues to grow. The number of Muslims in Russia is also growing.

“There is a long tradition of interactions with Islamic states in the political, economic, cultural and educational spheres. Russian President Vladimir Putin pays great attention to cooperation with Muslim countries”, - Minnikhanov noted.

Speaking of the GSV "Russia - Islamic World", created in 2006 by the Russian statesman Yevgeny Primakov and the first President of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan said that its activities turned out to be very popular.

Most promising areas for the development of cooperation within the GSV, according to Minnikhanov, today are halal banking and production of halal products, as well as the promotion of the halal lifestyle in general.

“Now this is a promising and very popular direction. The needs of Muslims are good business opportunities. And not only in those regions where Islam is represented, but also where they can work according to these standards”, - Rustam Minnikhanov said.
