Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov met with UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on the sidelines of the conference "The Mediterranean: Rome dialogue".
The meeting, as noted, was held behind closed doors. It precedes the inter-Syrian talks in Astana format, which will be held in Nur Sultan on December 10-11.
At the end of October in Geneva under the auspices of the UN Constitutional Committee of Syria started its work. The Committee consists of 150 delegates representing the government, opposition and civil society.
The main task of the Committee is to prepare a constitutional reform in Syria so that elections can be held on its basis.
