Sputnik V vaccine registered in Algeria

The Russian vaccine against the coronavirus Sputnik V was registered in Algeria on January 10, according to the official Twitter account of the vaccine developers.


"The Russian Direct Investment Fund announces the first registration of Sputnik V in Africa. The Algerian Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry registered Sputnik V on January 10," the statement reads.


The RDIF notes that the registration was carried out under the Emergency Use Authorization. Under a similar procedure, the vaccine was previously registered in Argentina, Bolivia and Serbia.


"Deliveries of the vaccine to Algeria will be ensured thanks to RDIF's international partners in India, China, South Korea and other countries," the fund said. According to RDIF head Kirill Dmitriev, the supplies "will allow to protect the health of Algerian citizens and ensure the full recovery of economic activity."
