Around 100 Tajik servicemen will take part in the Victory Day parade on Moscow’s Red Square, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of the Great Patriotic War. This was confirmed by Faridun Mahmadalizoda, head of the press center of Tajikistan’s Ministry of Defense, in a statement to TASS.
“A company of roughly 100 Tajik soldiers is currently in Moscow preparing for their participation in the parade,” Mahmadalizoda said. The troops represent the airborne assault brigade of Tajikistan’s mobile forces, and the parade unit is led by Lieutenant Colonel Rustam Sharifzoda, a graduate of the national military institute.
This brigade is part of both the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces and the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces under the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Mahmadalizoda added.
Back in March, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced after talks with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon that Tajik forces would take part in the May 9 parade. Rahmon is also expected to attend the celebration in Moscow.
