These days, Minsk hosts "The language policy of Commonwealth of Independent States countries" International Congress. The forum, organized by Rossotrudnichestvo, is attended by about 150 Russian speakers from 10 CIS countries.
The main topics of discussion are the role and status of the Russian language in the CIS in the current language situation.
"Throughout its history, the Russian language has had and retains the importance of the language of interethnic communication, the translation of the most fundamental foundations of scientific knowledge. This role of the Russian language should be developed and maintained within the CIS. Today, only the Russian language along with English successfully serves all areas of modern science – from fundamental to applied ones," said Secretary of the Coordinating Council of the National Parent Association for Social Support of Family and Protection of Family Values Organization , member of the Board of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation Alexey Gusev.
