UN: 369 Humanitarian Workers Killed in Gaza Since October 2023

09 January

At least 369 humanitarian workers have been killed in Gaza since October 2023, according to a report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The report highlights that 263 of those killed were staff members of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). "Reports continue to come in about Israeli air, ground, and naval bombardments, as well as the destruction of residential buildings across Gaza. These attacks are causing further civilian casualties, displacement, and significant damage to civilian infrastructure. There have also been reports of rocket attacks on Israel by Palestinian armed groups," the report states.

The UN also raised concerns about the dwindling fuel supplies needed to power hospital generators in Gaza, warning that this poses a grave risk to patients' lives, including those of newborns.
