FSB detains 31 members of the terrorist organization Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad

Russia's FSB has detained 31 ringleaders and members of an inter-regional structure of the terrorist organization  Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad, banned in Russia, during a special operation in Moscow, Novosibirsk Region, Yakutsk and Krasnoyarsk Territory. This was reported to TASS on Wednesday by the FSB Public Relations Center.


"The Federal Security Service, in cooperation with the Interior Ministry and Rosgvardia, within the framework of a special operation in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Yakutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Kansk of Krasnoyarsk Krai and the village of Prokudskoye in Novosibirsk Oblast, has suppressed the activities of an interregional structure of the terrorist organization Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad. The FSB detained 31 people from among its leaders and ordinary participants," noted the PRC.


According to the FSB, members of the cell carried out the recruitment and transportation of recruits in the war zones, were engaged in financing the terrorist structure members in Syria, as well as urged to commit crimes of a terrorist nature.


The FSB reported that prohibited religious literature, propaganda videos of the Katibat al Tawhid wal Jihad, as well as means of communication, electronic data carriers and bank cards were seized from the detainees. The investigation opened criminal cases, and the investigative measures are continuing.
