FSB detains ISIS supporters who were preparing to kill Russian military and law enforcement officers

Members of a terrorist cell from one of the Central Asian republics who were preparing to kill military personnel and law enforcement officers were detained in Saint Petersburg. This was reported to TASS in the Center for Public Relations of the FSB of Russia.


"In St. Petersburg, the activities of members of a terrorist cell from one of the Central Asian republics involved in the financing of the international terrorist organization "Islamic state" banned in the Russian Federation have been stopped," the FSB said.

 


They are also checked for involvement in terrorist propaganda and recruitment of Russian citizens into terrorist structures.


"According to the available operational information, these individuals planned to commit murders of military personnel and law enforcement officers of the Russian Federation, after which they intended to travel to the territory of the Middle East region to participate in the ITO (international terrorist organization. - ed.), " the FSB stressed.


The special operation was carried out by the FSB together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the framework of a criminal case initiated under part 1.1 of article 205.1 of the criminal code ("Assistance to terrorist activities"). Communication means and bank cards used in criminal activity were seized at the place of residence of the persons involved in the case.
