The FSB neutralized a terrorist supporter in Khimki near Moscow who was preparing a mass shooting of citizens in Moscow and leaving for Syria to join the ranks of terrorists. This was reported to TASS by the FSB's public relations Center (PRC).

"The Federal security service of the Russian Federation, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and the Investigative Committee, suppressed the activities of a member of a terrorist organization who planned to commit a terrorist act in one of the places of mass congestion in Moscow," the PRC reported.

The suspect was found in the area of abandoned garages in Khimki. "While trying to detain and check [he] opened fire on law enforcement officers with automatic firearms. As a result of the response actions, the criminal was neutralized (received injuries that are not compatible with life)," the PRC reported.

"It is established that the unknown criminal is a citizen of one of the Central Asian countries who lived in the capital in a rented apartment. In addition, in the Moscow region, his brother was detained, who through his friends a few days sought to prevent the departure of a relative in the Syrian Arab Republic to participate in banned in Russia international terrorist organization," - said the FSB.

During the search conducted by IC investigators in a rented apartment, " material evidence was found that the destroyed bandit was associated with emissaries of an international terrorist organization in Syria and was preparing a mass shooting of citizens." Currently, the search is underway for possible accomplices of the terrorist.

The FSB said that relatives of the terrorist considered him missing for two weeks.

The IC confirmed the information about the death of the criminal. "On July 26, members of the special services were on duty in the territory of a garage cooperative in Khimki, where an automatic firearm opened fire on them while trying to detain a man. As a result, the man was neutralized by return fire, " said Olga Vradiy, a representative of the main investigative Department of the IC in the Moscow region.

During the inspection of the scene, an arsenal of weapons was seized: an AK-74 assault rifle with a magazine loaded with 25 rounds, two spare magazines for it, two F-1 grenades and one RGD-5 grenade. A criminal case was opened on the fact of encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer (article 317 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation).
