Since last year 60 militants have been eliminated in the North Caucasus, 19 terrorist acts have been prevented, the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reports.


The meeting of the National Committee headed by its head, director of FSB of Russia Alexander Bortnikov took place on Tuesday in Moscow. It considered the implementation of the complex plan of counteraction to terrorism ideology in the subjects of the Russian Federation in the North-Caucasian Federal District.


"Bortnikov informed the participants that since the beginning of 2019, 36 crimes of terrorist nature have been prevented in the North Caucasus, including 19 terrorist attacks, 60 militants have been eliminated, 144 bandits and 220 accomplices have been detained, and the activity of 35 legalized cells has been stopped," the report says.


Supporters of terrorist organizations continue recruitment attempts in the North Caucasus region, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee (NAC) said.


"The leaders of international terrorist organizations seek to spread the ideology of terrorism in the North Caucasus region, continue to attempt to recruit their supporters, including social networks and messengers," the report said.
