Russia is constantly and successfully improving its naval weapons and is capable of detecting any enemy and striking an unstoppable blow if necessary, Russian President Vladimir Putin said before the start of the country's main naval parade.

"Russia in the shortest time has taken its rightful place among the leading maritime powers, has come a tremendous way of development from the modest Petrov boat to powerful ocean-going ships and missile nuclear submarine cruisers, has acquired effective long- and short-range naval aviation, reliable coastal defense complexes, the latest hypersonic high-precision weapons systems, which still have no analogs in the world, which we are constantly and successfully improving", said the president.
Putin stressed that today the Russian Navy has everything necessary for guaranteed protection of the native country and national interests. "We are capable of detecting any - underwater, surface, airborne - enemy and dealing him, if necessary, an unstoppable blow," the Russian leader said.

Putin stressed that Russia's naval presence is ensured practically in all areas of the world's oceans. He says that "faithful heirs of the marine military glory of the Fatherland" are on watch in the northern and southern latitudes. According to him, service in the Navy is the most honorable and in-demand, and skilled sailors and competent commanders who serve in our fleets - in the Baltic, Northern, Pacific, Black Sea and Caspian Flotilla - are known to everyone. "I am sure that thanks to the professionalism and steadfastness of military sailors and naval pilots, soldiers of marines and coastal units, their loyalty to the Fatherland and the Russian Navy, the glory of the St. Andrew Saltire will never fade," Putin said.

According to the Russian leader, Navy Day marks the unity of all generations of the maritime frontiers of the homeland. "It [the holiday] is important and dear for all Russia, for our people, because by the valor of military sailors, their feat of arms, the audacity of pioneers our Fatherland was collected and strengthened, its glory and greatness were forged," he stressed, noting, that Russians are rightfully proud of the names of prominent naval commanders and talented shipbuilders, all those who at different times bravely fought and won in the name of the Fatherland, made geographical discoveries, gave the mankind a unique knowledge about the diversity and beauty of the vast world.

"The scale and versatility of the strategic tasks that our navy has always accomplished are striking and inspire admiration and pride. In October it will celebrate its 325th anniversary," said the President. The President reminded about the commandments of Peter the Great, reflected in the Naval regulations: not to lower the ship's flag, not to retreat and not to surrender the ship to the enemy. "Happy holiday to you! Long live the Russian Navy!" Putin concluded.
