The Su-27 fighter intercepted two American reconnaissance planes over the Black sea, the National defense control center said.
The Ministry said that today the Russian military found two air targets approaching the state border and decided to take up the Su-27 from the air defense duty of the southern military district.
The crew of the Russian military board identified the objects as a strategic RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft of the US air force and a P-8A Poseidon base patrol aircraft of the US Navy. After they changed course, the Su-27 returned to the home airfield.
The Military Department stressed that the flight of the fighter took place strictly in accordance with international rules. American reconnaissance planes did not violate the Russian border.
This summer, experts have already detected foreign aircraft several times near the territory of Russia. At least nine such incidents have been reported since the beginning of July.
So, on August 5, the Su-27 also intercepted the American RC-135 and P-8A Poseidon over the Black sea.
