The organizers of the "Immortal regiment" campaign canceled the March on July 26 due to the epidemiological situation in the regions of Russia.
The press service of the all-Russian public civil-Patriotic movement "Immortal regiment of Russia" reported that the March was postponed, and the decision on the fate of the event will be made after the normalization of the epidemiological situation.
As the organizers of the action noted during a meeting of the Central staff, which took place on Thursday, representatives of the movement studied the epidemiological situation in 76 regions where there were representatives of the movement.
"In general, the heads of regional branches of the movement noted that the March of the Immortal regiment was possible only with the observance of measures of sanitary and epidemiological protection: the use of masks and gloves, the observance of social distance. This is contrary to the spirit of the Immortal regiment, since this March is shoulder to shoulder, embodying universal unity, families take part in it for generations, "said Elena Tsunayeva, co-chair of the Central staff of the "Immortal regiment of Russia", whose words were quoted in the press service.
Earlier, a source involved in the preparation of the action said that the organizers of the "Immortal regiment" March were considering moving the action, previously planned for July 26, to the autumn. Co-Chairman of the eponymous all-Russian movement, people's artist of the USSR Vasily Lanovoy clarified that the organizers of the action were considering the possibility of postponing the action on September 2 or 3.
The March of the "Immortal regiment" has been held in Russia for several years on May 9, Victory Day. Due to the coronavirus, this year's event was held only in a virtual format. On May 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed to hold the March of the "Immortal regiment" on July 26, the day of the Navy, but did not rule out that it could again be postponed depending on the epidemiological situation.
