Putin gave instructions to eliminate consequences of floods in Crimea

Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to bring in the necessary forces and means to help eliminate the consequences of the floods in Crimea, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.


He added that on the instructions of the Russian leader, the head of the republic, Sergei Aksenov, will "take the most active decision in these works."


In addition, Putin instructed the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Yevgeny Zinichev to increase the group and take measures for emergency response.


Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova will be in charge of ensuring the implementation of sanitary and epidemiological measures.


According to Peskov, the Crimea will receive large-scale emergency assistance from the federal center.


A powerful cyclone hit the Crimea on June 17, which led to the flooding of the city of Kerch in the east of the peninsula. The next day, heavy rains came to Yalta, causing rivers to overflow their banks and flooding streets and homes. The storm also affected Feodosiya, Leninskiy and Kirovskiy districts.


A storm warning was announced in the region, new rains are coming to the peninsula.
