Russia has invited representatives of other Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO) countries to international exercises of rapid response anti-epidemic brigades to be held next month in Kazan, Russian president Vladimir Putin said on Friday, speaking by video link at the SCO summit.

"We <...> invited representatives of SCO countries to the international exercise of teams of so-called rapid response to epidemics, which will be held in Russia in October in our city of Kazan," the Russian leader said.

He also underlined that the comprehensive plan adopted at the last year's SCO summit to fight against epidemics has played a role in restoration of the dynamics of economic cooperation in the SCO area. "It is important that all SCO member states are actively involved in the realization of the plan," said Putin.

The Russian president also noted that "Russia has donated to member states almost 1.2 million tests for COVID-19." "We continue to send leading health specialists and scientists to help partners," Putin said.
