Investigative Committee opened a case after the unrest in a camp for Azerbaijanis in Dagestan

A criminal case on violence against the authorities and deliberate damage to property was initiated after the incident in the temporary camp for Azerbaijani residents in Dagestan. This was reported to the journalists by the press service of the republican department of the Russian Investigative Committee.


"The case was initiated under Part 2 of Article 318 of the Criminal Code ("Use of violence dangerous to life or health against a representative of the authorities") and Part 1 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code ("Wilful damage to someone else's property")," said the representative of the investigation.


The press service noted that nine law enforcement officers were injured as a result of illegal actions, five service cars were damaged, the damage amounted to about 400 thousand roubles.


As noted, to date, 10 suspects have been detained on suspicion of committing these crimes. "Investigative actions are carried out to clarify all the circumstances of the incident and identify other persons involved in this crime," the message says.


According to the investigation, on 15 June, about 400 citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who had been settled in the territory of a hostel and a temporary tent camp near the village of Kullar in Derbent district and were dissatisfied with the organization of their crossing of the state border into the territory of their republic, went to the "Caucasus" federal highway and tried to block the traffic. They resisted police action and threw stones and other objects at the police.
