Putin noted the contribution of the former head of the State Council of Dagestan to strengthening peace in the North Caucasus

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated former Chairman of the State Council of Dagestan Magomedali Magomedov on his 90th birthday, noting his contribution to strengthening peace in the North Caucasus. The telegram was published on the Kremlin's website on Monday.


"For many years, your responsible, in-demand work has been aimed at developing the economy and social sphere of your native Dagestan, improving the quality of life of your fellow countrymen. And of course, your contribution to the strengthening of peace and harmony in the North Caucasus is extremely important," the message reads.


The President noted that Magomedov rightfully enjoys a high deserved authority not only in the Republic of Dagestan but also in the entire country. He wished Magomedov health, cheerfulness and well-being.


Magomedali Magomedov served as the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Dagestan for 12 years, from July 26, 1994 to February 20, 2006.
