Russian airlines have received more than 200 admissions for regular flights to Egypt, according to the order of the Federal Air Transport Agency.
"The decision to issue these admissions is not a reason or decision to resume flights on international routes specified in the order of the Federal Air Transport Agency. Admission is the right of the airlines to use when resuming flights," reminded the Federal Air Transport Agency.
As follows from the order, it's mainly the admission to perform flights from Russian regions to Egyptian resorts - Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. Rosaviatsiya has approved access for Azur Air, Red Wings, Nordstar, Royal Flight, iFly, North Wind, Yamal, and Azimut. The iFly, Red Wings and Azur airlines were also approved for regular flights from Zhukovsky to Cairo.
Earlier, Aeroflot, Pobeda, S7, Smartavia, Nordstar, Ural Airlines, Azur Air, Nordwind and Royal Flight received permits to fly to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh from the regions.
On flights to Egypt
Flights to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh will be operated with a frequency of 15 times a week on each of the routes - the operational headquarters to combat the spread of coronavirus increased the frequency from five flights the day before.
Air travel between Russia and Egypt was suspended in 2015 after a Russian airliner crashed over the Sinai Peninsula, killing 224 people. A terrorist organization claimed responsibility for the crash. In 2018, flights from Russia to Cairo resumed after heightened security measures at Cairo airport.
In April of this year, the presidents of Russia and Egypt agreed to restore flights between Russian cities and resorts on the Red Sea - Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. Before that, several delegations of Russian aviation security specialists inspected the airports of Egyptian resorts.
