Oman is ready to cooperate with Russia in case of a widespread Russian vaccine and is closely following the information on this issue. This was announced on Monday by Omani Ambassador to Russia Yousef bin Issa bin Ali al-Zadjali at an online conference.

"With regard to the Russian vaccine, we are closely following the information on this issue and are providing it to our relevant authorities. If this vaccine is accepted for widespread use, we will certainly coordinate our efforts through our specialized agencies with the Russian authorities. We certainly welcome cooperation in this direction," the diplomat said.

He said Oman would apply for the vaccines as soon as they went on sale.

Russia was the first country in the world to register a coronavirus vaccine called Sputnik V on August 11. The drug was developed at the  Gamaleya Research Center and passed clinical trials in June and July.
