The Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine has come under information attack in Russia and abroad, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said.
They noted that it happened "for competitive or political reasons."
The statement of the Fund stresses that the media sometimes publish inaccurate information about the characteristics of the drug, its production and negotiations with potential partners and counterparties.
The RDIF cited a situation when Turkish media, citing head of the Ministry of Health Fahrettin Koca, reported that Ankara had allegedly refused to purchase the Russian vaccine because the drug did not comply with proper laboratory practice.
The Turkish Health Ministry later told RIA Novosti that these reports were a misunderstanding. Koca himself also told reporters that there would be no problems with the delivery of the Russian vaccine if it successfully passed proper laboratory practice for toxicology.
"The Turkish Ministry of Health has issued an official denial of the material of the Turkish newspaper Haber Turk about the ministry's rejection of the Russian vaccine. The RDIF calls on all media outlets to verify facts before publication, including asking RDIF representatives for verification," the statement reads.
They stressed that "uniting the efforts of all vaccine manufacturers, governments, regulators, scientists and medical organizations is vital to defeating the new coronavirus infection".
