Rostourism starts application process for visa-free agreement with Iran

13 September 2022

Rostourism has started application process from Russian tour operators for visa-free agreement with Iran, the agency's head Zarina Doguzova said on her Telegram channel.

"Rostourism announces application process for visa-free agreement with Iran," the report said.

Doguzova reminded that last year an agreement on mutual visa-free group tourist trips of citizens of Russia and Iran came into force. This mechanism developed by Rostourism similar to the Chinese allows Russian tour operators to take tourist groups of 5 to 50 people in Russia and send them to Iran without visa registration.

For a tour operator to be able to receive Iranian tourists in Russia and send Russian tourists to Iran, it has to send a number of information to its regional authorities until October 15, 2022.

The list of such information includes the name of the organization (in Russian and English), registry number, contact phone number and e-mail, a seal sample. At the same time tour operators should be included in a single federal register of tour operators and operate in the field of international inbound and outbound tourism, says the report.

"We will send the lists of tour operators to the Iranian side. We expect that by the new year our tour operators will be able to start full work within the framework of a visa-free agreement with Iran", concluded Doguzova.

Earlier, during the Eastern Economic Forum Doguzova told TASS that group visa-free trips between Russia and Iran might start by the end of this year.
