Russian High-Tech Exporters Expand into Turkish Market

06 February

Russian producers of non-resource-based and high-tech goods are increasingly active in the Turkish market, according to Russian Consul General in Istanbul, Andrey Buravov, who spoke with TASS.

"Russian manufacturers themselves are highly interested in diversifying and increasing non-resource exports to Turkey," Buravov stated. He noted that the Russian Export Center (REC), part of VEB.RF, is tasked with supporting this initiative. "Recently, we've seen growth in activity from Russian economic operators targeting the Turkish market. This applies not only to traditional areas such as food, industrial goods, energy resources, and metals but also to high-tech industries," the diplomat emphasized.

However, Buravov acknowledged that sanctions continue to pose challenges, particularly in terms of technical logistics, payment issues, and overall cooperation potential.

REC's representative in Turkey, Timur Safin, had earlier noted Turkey's interest in importing non-resource Russian goods across various sectors. He highlighted a recent success where a Russian manufacturer secured contracts to supply multifunctional medical systems to Turkey following the REC-supported Expomed Eurasia exhibition.
