Trade between Russia and Egypt increased by 30% in 2022

The trade turnover between Russia and Egypt in 2022 increased by 30% and amounted to more than $6 billion, Russian Trade and Industry Minister - Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov told reporters following the meeting of the Russian-Egyptian Commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation.


"Last year's figures are 30% more than in 2021 and the level has already exceeded $6 billion. But we expect to continue progressive growth, including through Egyptian imports of goods demanded primarily agricultural goods," he said.


Manturov noted that during the talks the sides paid particular attention to the use of national currencies in mutual settlements between the countries. "Our finance ministries and central banks are finding the best options to provide payments to our economic operators, primarily using the currency of the two countries and friendly countries," he said.


Earlier, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade, said that he expects an agreement on a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and Egypt to be signed in the near future.
