Trade between Russia and Iran increased by 15% in the first half of the year

The trade turnover between Iran and Russia increased by 15% in the first six months of 2021 compared to the same period last year, Russian trade representative to Iran Rustam Zhiganshin said on Tuesday.


"Russian-Iranian trade turnover increased in 2020. It also shows positive dynamics at the beginning of this year: in the first six months of 2021, trade turnover increased by 15%. At the same time, exports increased by 16%, imports from Iran - by 14%," he said at the webinar "Trade and economic cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran".


According to information published by the Eurasian Economic Commission, Iran-Russia trade turnover was $2.22 billion in 2020, of which $1.42 billion came from Russian exports. Compared with 2019, trade between the two countries increased by 39.8%.
