UAE hopes for hydrogen energy group meeting with Russia in October-November

The first meeting of the joint Russian-UAE working group on hydrogen energy may take place in October or November this year, Mohammed Ahmed Al-Jaber, UAE ambassador to Moscow told TASS. 


"The first meeting of the working group may take place in Moscow, as part of the Russian Energy Week in October, or in Abu Dhabi, as part of the International Oil and Gas Exhibition ADIPEC-2021 in November," the ambassador said.


He noted that Russia has advanced technologies in the field of equipment for exploration, production and processing of hydrocarbons and all opportunities to become a leader in the upcoming transformation of the global energy market.


"Cooperation between Russia and the UAE in this area will be extremely beneficial for both countries," the diplomat continued. - "Both countries have significant energy potential, generating capacities, geographical proximity to potential hydrogen consumers, large scientific potential in hydrogen production, transportation and storage, as well as existing transportation infrastructure".


On July 30, the Ministry of Energy of Russia reported that Russia and the UAE agreed on the creation of a joint working group on hydrogen energy.

 

 

Meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Dubai


The tenth meeting of the Russian-Emirati intergovernmental commission on economic and scientific-technical cooperation is scheduled to be held in Dubai in late November or early December 2021.


"Regarding the tenth meeting of the Russian-Emirati intergovernmental commission on economic and scientific-technical cooperation, at this stage there are negotiations between the relevant departments of the two countries. We expect that the next meeting will be held in Dubai at the end of November or early December this year," the diplomat said.


The head of the UAE diplomatic mission earlier told TASS that the meeting of the intergovernmental commission could take place in October at the Expo 2020 world exhibition in Dubai which was postponed to October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the first world expo to be held in the Middle East.
