Grushko: everything NATO did after the Cold War ended in disasters

02 March 2022

Europe has to eliminate the consequences of NATO interventions in other countries and defend itself against them, said Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko.

"Europe, by and large, should, first of all, be engaged in the neutralization and protection from the consequences of NATO interventions," he said on the air of the Russia-24 television channel on Wednesday.

The deputy minister emphasized that all NATO acts "ended in disasters," recalling the events in Yugoslavia, Libya and Afghanistan.

"As for NATO's deeds, they are well known. Whatever NATO has done, it has ended in catastrophes. I'm leaving out the Cold War period where it's more or less clear what the alliance was for and what functions it performed, but after the Cold War the alliance's history is a history of wars, aggressions and interventions," Grushko said.

According to him, the consequences of NATO's interference in the affairs of other countries are the destruction of statehood and the transfer of power to terrorists.

"The obvious result [of the alliance's intervention] is ruined, destroyed states or spaces that are deprived of full statehood, which today have ended up in the hands of terrorist groups," the deputy head of the Russian diplomatic mission stated.
