Attempts by Western countries to maintain their dominance and return a unipolar world are illusions, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday at a meeting with Abkhaz President Aslan Bzhania.

"International relations are under tremendous strain as a result of the West's relentless striving by all means and by all means, but rather by unrighteous means, to maintain its dominance in international affairs, to subdue everyone and everything and to return the unipolar world to itself. These, of course, are illusions," Lavrov said.

Russia, according to the minister, is witnessing the culmination of Western countries' policy to contain Moscow, it is aimed at weakening it.

"The international situation has heated up to the limit, in fact, we are witnessing the culmination of the policy of containment of Russia, which has been pursued by the West for a long time in order to weaken our positions and try to establish again a unipolar world," he said.

According to Lavrov, the West is speaking of its intentions "practically openly. The minister believes that Western countries are demanding that everyone obey their rules. "The fact that the United States plays a decisive role in promoting this kind of philosophy, this kind of policy, is already obvious to everyone," he added.
