Russia considers provocative and extremely dangerous for regional stability actions of the US armed forces during exercises in Estonia with the use of multiple rocket launchers, a statement issued by the Russian Embassy in Washington reads.
"We paid attention to reports, including in The Washington Times, with anti-Russian attacks and information support in the American press of the maneuvers of the US armed forces in Estonia with the use of multiple rocket systems in the immediate vicinity of the Russian borders - 110 km. The Russian Federation has repeatedly suggested that the United States and its allies limit training activities and withdraw exercise zones from the "line of contact" between Russia and NATO. We consider the actions of the US armed forces in Estonia provocative and extremely dangerous for regional stability," the Russian diplomats said.
"Why this demonstrative rattling of weapons? What signal do NATO want to send us? Who is really raising tensions in Europe? And all this is happening in the context of the aggravation of the political situation in that area of the European continent. A rhetorical question: how would the Americans react if our military conducted such shootings near the US borders? " the Embassy added.
From September 1 to 10, Estonia will host a joint shooting of the infantry brigade of the Baltic armed forces and the 41st field artillery brigade of the US army. We are talking about the first live firing of American artillery outside of a permanent base in Europe.
