Rosatom is discussing with its partners from Iraq the possibility of cooperation in the nuclear sphere. These are both energy and non-energy projects, Rosatom told reporters.
"Rosatom and its Iraqi partners are discussing all kinds of possibilities of cooperation in the nuclear field, including both nuclear energy and non-power applications of nuclear technology for peaceful purpose. At the same time, they are working on forming the legal framework of such cooperation," the state corporation reported.
Earlier, the media reported that Iraq planned to build eight nuclear power plant units (NPP) by 2030 to meet the country's energy demands. It was noted that Rosatom can realize this project.
According to the Iraqi authorities, eight NPP units will provide about 25% of the country's total electricity needs.
