Turkmenistan registers Sputnik V vaccine

The Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan registered the Russian vaccine against coronavirus infection Sputnik V, the press service of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) reports.

 

"Turkmenistan became the first country in Central Asia to officially approve the use of the Sputnik V vaccine on its territory. The partners highly appreciated the safety and effectiveness of the vaccine, which is currently one of the world's leading anti-Coronavirus drugs and has already been approved by state regulators in different regions of the world," the press service quotes Kirill Dmitriev, head of the fund, as saying.


Russia was the first in the world to register a vaccine against coronavirus, called Sputnik V, on August 11, 2020. The drug was developed by the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology. Sputnik V is a vector vaccine based on human adenovirus.


Sputnik V has also been approved in Belarus, Serbia, Argentina, Bolivia, Algeria, Palestine, Venezuela, and Paraguay. The process of registering the vaccine in the EU has been initiated.
