The Russian police robot Promobot has successfully passed a one-year probationary period in Abu Dhabi, a representative of the company Promobot told RIA Novosti.

The device started working in the capital of the United Arab Emirates last June.

"After a year of its operation, the police leadership decided to officially include the robot in the "staff" of the facility and further extend this experience to other regions of the UAE," the developers noted.

A project is now being developed to use similar robots in police departments in Dubai, as well as in the northern emirates of Sharjah and Ajman.

The device is responsible for patrolling, video surveillance of employees and visitors of police facilities, temperature measurement and law enforcement.

The robot can communicate in English and Arabic. In addition, its creators, together with the UAE police developed a special linguistic database, which contains several thousand questions and answers, as well as a system of facial recognition.

Promobot "knows by sight" all law enforcement officers, visitors and wanted criminals. The device is equipped with obstacle sensors and a non-contact thermometer, so it can freely move and patrol objects and also monitor the temperature of police officers and visitors.

According to Abu Dhabi Police Executive Director Suhel Al-Khaili, the police tested and refined all of the android's systems and integrated them into the station's infrastructure over the course of a year and were pleased with the result.

"The robot really helps relieve police officers from routine patrol work and helps limit human contact during the COVID-19 pandemic," Al-Khaili noted.

According to Oleg Kivokurtsev, the Development Director of Promobot, the device does not make the so-called "human error" - it is not tired, not rude to visitors, not late for work and never makes mistakes.

Russian robots have already become famous in the Arabian Peninsula. Robots from Perm can be found in the Dubai Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in the world, the National Bank of Oman, a network of clinics in Kuwait, and schools in Saudi Arabia.
