16 April

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is set to visit Moscow, where he plans to discuss with Russian leadership key issues including the situation in Syria, Gaza, and Ukraine. This was confirmed by Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al-Hulayfi, in an interview with TASS.

"Naturally, the negotiations will cover a range of important regional and international matters, including the situation in Syria, Gaza, and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine," Al-Hulayfi stated. He emphasized that Qatar and Russia "are closely cooperating to find joint solutions to regional and global challenges."

In addition to the geopolitical issues, the agenda for the talks between the two countries will also include topics related to expanding economic cooperation. Al-Hulayfi noted that Doha sees "great opportunities for strengthening Qatari-Russian relations."

Earlier, during a meeting with the Qatari Emir on February 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov conveyed a greeting from Russian President Vladimir Putin and expressed that Russia was looking forward to the Emir's visit. In response, the Qatari leader confirmed plans to visit Russia on April 17. On March 21, the Kremlin press service reported that the two leaders had a phone conversation, during which they discussed the development of bilateral cooperation, steps to enhance investment ties, and the ongoing situations in Syria and Gaza.
