Iran called Ukrainian conflict and IS a result of US policy

The crisis in Iraq, the creation of the Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia) terrorist organization, as well as the conflict in Ukraine were the result of US policy. Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani expressed this view on Wednesday.

"Peace, stability and progress in Afghanistan is our priority, [the priority] of all those gathered around this table. We believe and assume that the US presence destabilizes the region. Afghanistan's experience confirms that. The events in Iraq, the creation of IS in the Levant, and the events in Ukraine were the result of US arrogance, and the people of Ukraine became victims of US goals," he said at the fifth multilateral meeting of security representatives on the Afghan issue.

Shamkhani believes that US policies are destabilizing different regions of the world. "Wherever the West and the US are present, of course, there is instability <...> and the flames of war, but where there is cooperation between regional countries, there will be peace, calm and security," he said.

Despite unilateral US sanctions, Iran, according to Shamkhani, is sending aid to the Afghan people and hosting a large number of Afghans in its territory. The secretary of Iran's Security Council said that by working together, it is possible to help bring peace and stability to Afghanistan.

The fifth meeting of security council secretaries on Afghanistan involving representatives from Central Asia, Pakistan, India and China is being held in Moscow on Wednesday. The fourth round of multilateral consultations on Afghanistan was held in Dushanbe in May 2022. The third round was held in November 2021 in New Delhi.
