Rouhani: Iran will not surrender if the country is bombed

24 May 2019

Iran will not surrender if the country is bombed, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani claimed against the background of military tensions with the United States.

"Today we need perseverance, the enemies must understand that there is no place for despair and hopelessness in our hearts”, Rouhani claimed. He also added that even if Iran is subject to bombardment, Iranians will still pursue their goals - greatness and independence.

According to the President, the Republic is experiencing an economic war, where public welfare is attacked. Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has previously stated that Iran is not going to wage war with the United States, but will continue to resist Washington, RIA Novosti reports.

Iranian Officials have repeatedly accused the United States of economic pressure on Iran, calling it "war."

At the same time, the situation around Iran has become tense after Washington decided to send its fleet to the Persian Gulf region. The United States concentrated in the Persian Gulf and at least 7 warships around it and delivered the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system.
