Russia begins preparations for UN climate conference in Dubai in 2023

The Russian delegation has begun preparations for the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates in 2023. The first negotiations on the conference agenda will be held in Dubai in January, Russian Presidential Special Representative on Climate Issues Ruslan Edelgeriyev said on Friday at the II Congress of young scientists.


"The next conference, which will be held in Dubai, will be significant because it will be a global summit. It is necessary to prepare thoroughly for this conference, because the actions of countries will be assessed within the framework of fight against climate change and adaptation. We have already started preparations and received the first invitation from the Emirati side in January where we will start discussing the elements which will be put forward for the next event," Edelgeriyev said.


According to him, at the expert level, the Russian delegation works with all countries, including Western countries.


The II Congress of young scientists is taking place in the "Sirius" Science and Art Park in Sochi on December 1-3. More than three thousand guests from Russia and more than 40 countries are expected to attend. They will take part in panel discussions, pitch sessions and master classes, round tables, and other events. The program includes seven thematic blocks, dedicated to the topical issues and the development vector of scientific approaches in Russia.


The congress is included in the program of the Decade of Science and Technology, declared from 2022 to 2031 by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The organizers of the event in Sochi are the Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation, the Coordinating council on youth affairs in the scientific and educational sphere of the Presidential Council for science and education and the Roscongress Foundation. The operator of the Decade of Science and Technology is the ANO "National Priorities". TASS is the general information partner of the congress.
