30 July 2021

Islamabad views relations with Moscow as a guarantee of stability, Pakistan's Ambassador to Moscow Shafqat Ali Khan said on Thursday at the session "Modern Networking: Round Table on Interregional Cooperation" within the framework of the economic summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit 2021".

"We look at Russia as a factor of stability. We are sure that stable relations between Pakistan and Russia are not only in the interests of our two countries, but also a guarantee of common stability," he said.

As the diplomat noted, Moscow and Islamabad share common values in international law and international relations. "Russia is the voice of reason, it has values that are very close to us. We believe that this is the basis of stable international relations," he stressed.

Islamabad also views Moscow as a partner of Islamic countries in defending traditional values, he said. "Russia is highly respected in Pakistan," the Ambassador noted.

He pointed out that during the pandemic, contrary to the popular trend, ties between Russia and Pakistan intensified. "We have started huge energy projects that are very promising. For example, we are now starting a project to build the Pakistan Stream gas pipeline. I think we will be able to share some good news soon," Khan said.
