Russian President Vladimir Putin called for the resumption of the work of the intergovernmental commission of Russia and Palestine that was interrupted because of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Unfortunately, because of this pandemic there has been a breakdown in the work of the intergovernmental commission - it is necessary, of course, to build this work as quickly as possible," Putin said during talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

According to the Russian President, the absolute figures of trade turnover between Russia and Palestine are still small, but there is still an increase, "despite all these problems, by more than 30% over the previous year."

"You know that Russia is making efforts to support Palestine in this area (in the fight against coronavirus - TASS): we provide appropriate medical products, vaccines, our specialists and doctors go to Palestine," Putin added.

The meeting of the two leaders is taking place at the Bocharov Ruchei residence in Sochi. The Russian head of state met his guest at the entrance to the negotiation hall. Abbas greeted Putin in Russian. "Good afternoon," he said, shaking hands with the Russian leader.
