Russian Ambassador in Tehran Warns of Possible Israeli Strikes on Iran

06 February

Russian Ambassador to Iran, Alexey Dedov, has cautioned that Israel might resort to military actions against Iran, emphasizing Tehran’s readiness to respond proportionately. Speaking to the "Russia-24" TV channel, Dedov highlighted the impact of Western leniency towards Israeli operations in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, and the West Bank, suggesting it has fostered a sense of impunity in Israel’s leadership.

“We cannot rule out the possibility of Israel resorting to military actions. To prevent such scenarios, we are employing diplomatic efforts. However, it should be noted that Iran is well-prepared for such strikes. If Israel and the US choose to launch an attack, Iran’s response will be entirely proportional,” Dedov stated.

He also addressed recent Iranian threats to withdraw from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), framing them as a reaction to Western threats, including potential military actions and renewed sanctions. Dedov underscored that Iran has adhered strictly to the NPT and that there is no evidence of its intent to develop nuclear weapons.

“The West, on the other hand, seems intent on provoking Iran into taking severe measures. We hope Iran will not succumb to these provocations,” Dedov concluded.
