02 November 2023

The first Russian language study support center has been established in Kyrgyzstan. This initiative was carried out under the supervision of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Kyrgyzstan, as reported by the office's press service to TASS.

"The inaugural ceremony for the first center of this kind was held in Kant city, located in Chuy Region," the spokesperson stated. The new center is now operational within the premises of the Chuy regional library.

With the assistance of Rossotrudnichestvo, a total of three Russian language study centers will be operational in Kyrgyzstan. Apart from the center in Kant, additional centers will be established at Naryn State University in Naryn Region and at Talas State University in Talas Region.

"These are contemporary educational facilities where individuals can learn the Russian language, explore the cultures of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, and engage in creative activities and discussions," explained the representative office's press service. Rossotrudnichestvo has supplied the centers with essential furnishings, equipment, and literature. The Russian World Foundation, along with the support of Alliance Altyn and Naryn State University, also contributed to the centers' equipment.

"We anticipate that these centers will significantly enhance Russian language learning opportunities, expand access to high-quality educational resources, and serve as hubs of interest for young people and all individuals interested in the Russian language, Russia, and educational prospects in Russia. These centers will be accessible not only to students but also to the broader communities of Naryn, Talas, and Kant," Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Pavel Shevtsov stated, as quoted by the press service.

The opening ceremony of the first resource center for the study of the Russian language in Kant was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, local authorities, and the Russian Embassy in the republic.
