25 May 2021

Gazprom EP International resumed oil production in Libya as part of a joint venture with Wintershall Dea. Production at the project in 2021 will increase to 62,000 bpd from the current 43,000 bpd. This was reported by Gazprom EP International Managing Director Sergey Tumanov in an interview with Gazprom's corporate magazine.

"In the fall of 2020, after ten months of shutdown due to the force majeure declared in Libya, oil production was successfully resumed within our Libyan asset. The work of ports, export terminals, and production facilities in the country began to be gradually restored. At the same time, within the framework of our joint venture with Wintershall Dea - Wintershall Aktiengesellschaft (WIAG), we concluded an important stage of works in Libya - we turned over the functions of the operator of the Sirte Basin fields in sectors 91 and 107 to the newly established joint venture with the Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) - Sarir Oil Operations B.V. (SOO)," he said.

Gazprom may make a decision on the fields in Algeria in 2021, commissioning is possible in 2025, said the top manager.
