The trade turnover between Russia and the UAE in the first nine months of this year amounted to about $3.76 billion, an increase of 86.03% compared to the same period last year, the UAE ambassador to Moscow Mohammed Ahmed Al-Jaber told TASS.

"Thanks to the efforts of the parties, the use of available reserves has intensified and the quality of interaction has increased, which has become a driver for the continuous development of bilateral relations. In the first nine months of 2021, Russia's trade turnover with the UAE amounted to about $3.76 billion, an increase of 86.03% compared to the same period of 2020," the diplomat said.

The ambassador stressed that the high level of mutual political trust between the leaders of the two countries is the basis for developing and taking cooperation between Moscow and Abu Dhabi to a new level.

Strategic partner

According to the diplomat, the UAE attaches special importance to the development of trade cooperation with Russia. "International cooperation is impossible without sincere, trusting and like-minded partners. In Russia we have not only a strategic partner but also one of the most important and priority partners for cooperation in all areas. We are set to mutually beneficial trade cooperation on the principle of equality and mutual respect," he stressed.

Al-Jaber also noted the UAE delegation's participation in the "Made in Russia" forum held in Moscow on December 10. According to him, the UAE's participation in this year's forum was landmark, with a large delegation headed by the country's Minister of State for Foreign Trade Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.

The ambassador added that the "Made in Russia" forum platform was important for the UAE not only to talk about the country's goals and objectives in trade with Russia, but also to talk about how Abu Dhabi's views on the state of global trade, in general, are shaping up. "In a rapidly changing world, coming together and cooperating for mutual benefit is the right way for all countries without exception," Al-Jaber stressed.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries marked their 50th anniversary this December.
