Hamas Accuses Israel of Expanding Controlled Zone in Gaza

20 November

The Palestinian movement Hamas has accused Israel of expanding its controlled area in the Gaza Strip beyond the established "yellow line" demarcation zone separating Hamas and Israeli forces in the enclave, according to Sky News Arabia.

The group claims Israeli forces have "expanded their control zone in the Shejaiya district," located east of Gaza City. Hamas alleges the Israeli military has unilaterally advanced the yellow line by 300 meters, effectively establishing control over this additional territory.

On October 9, Israel and Hamas reached an agreement through Egyptian, Qatari, US and Turkish mediation to implement the first phase of a peace plan presented by US President Donald Trump. The Gaza ceasefire took effect on October 10. Under the agreement, Israeli troops withdrew from central areas of the enclave to the so-called yellow line, while Israel maintained control over more than 50% of the territory.
