A delegation from Hamas has cautioned mediators in Egypt that Israel's continued violations risk undermining the Gaza ceasefire agreement, according to a statement by the organization's spokesman Hazem Qassem on his Telegram channel.
"The continuation of Israeli violations could undermine the ceasefire agreement, as Hamas has explained to mediators during negotiations in Cairo," Qassem emphasized. He stated that "the presence of Hamas' delegation in Cairo demonstrates the movement's serious commitment to cooperating with mediators to transition to the second phase of the ceasefire agreement."
Qassem asserted that "the second phase process is complex, and we have fulfilled all our obligations while Israel continues to violate them." He further accused Israel of "daily expanding its controlled area in the Gaza Strip beyond the designated yellow line."
The delegation, led by Muhammad Darwish, chairman of Hamas' Shura Council, and including senior officials Khaled Mashal and Khalil al-Hayya, arrived in Cairo on November 23. The Palestinian representatives met with Egyptian Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashid to discuss the second phase of the Gaza agreement, particularly the status of Hamas fighters remaining in Israeli-controlled areas of the enclave.
