Saudi Crown Prince Receives Letter from Iranian President Ahead of US Visit

18 November

Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud received a letter from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian ahead of his visit to the United States and scheduled meeting with American leader Donald Trump. The Saudi Press Agency reported the exchange without disclosing the letter's contents.

The Royal Court confirmed the Crown Prince departed for the United States on November 17 for working talks, with a meeting scheduled with President Trump on November 18.

According to Bloomberg, Riyadh seeks to obtain security guarantees from Washington similar to those previously extended to Qatar. In late September, the American president signed an executive order designating that any armed attack against Qatar's territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure would be considered a threat to US peace and security. Ahead of the Crown Prince's visit, Trump announced plans to supply Saudi Arabia with fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets.

On October 20, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei stated that Tehran maintains contact with Washington through intermediaries, confirming Iran's continued openness to nuclear negotiations provided Tehran retains the right to develop peaceful nuclear technology.
