Dagestan and Iran's Gilan Province Agree to Expand Trade Ties

20 November

The governments of Dagestan and Iran's Gilan Province have agreed to expand trade and economic cooperation, the Dagestani government told TASS.

"Dagestan Prime Minister Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov met with Governor of Iran's Gilan Province Hadi Haghshenas. The parties agreed to cooperate with the northern Iranian province and expand trade and economic ties while strengthening cooperation across various sectors," the agency's interlocutor stated.

The official noted that both Gilan Province and the Republic of Dagestan serve as key logistics hubs for the International North–South Transport Corridor, united by their Caspian Sea coastlines and existing port and aviation infrastructure.

"Hadi Haghshenas expressed strong interest in the Republic of Dagestan, noting that the peoples of Iran's Gilan and Dagestan are connected not only by Islamic religious brotherhood but also by spiritual bonds," the republican government added. "Abdulmuslim Abdulmuslimov acknowledged the productive work of the Dagestani delegation during their working visit to Iran and emphasized that Dagestan would welcome an Iranian delegation on a return visit."
