Kremlin: Russia Maintains Commitment to G20 Engagement

14 November

Russia remains committed to continuing its work within the G20 framework, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated during a media briefing on Tuesday.

"We remain interested in continuing our work within the G20," the Kremlin official affirmed. Addressing the summit's potential final declaration, Peskov acknowledged ongoing attempts to politicize the document, noting that such efforts "are naturally met with resistance, including by us, and several other countries share this position."

The spokesperson explained that when consensus proves unattainable, the document simply cannot be finalized or adopted. He reiterated Moscow's continued interest in the G20's work despite these challenges.

The upcoming G20 summit, scheduled for November 22-23 in Johannesburg under South Africa's presidency, faces uncertainty regarding its final declaration. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa had previously indicated that even if no formal document is adopted, a chair's statement would be issued outlining the forum's main discussion points and achieved outcomes.
