Russia and the Arab League (League) have taken significant steps toward establishing a Russian-Arab cultural center in Moscow, according to Walid Hamed Shiltag, the Arab League's Ambassador to Russia. Speaking at the 10th St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures, Shiltag emphasized that the center will focus on promoting cultural and scientific cooperation.
“We have laid the foundation for the creation of the Russian-Arab cultural center in Moscow,” Shiltag announced. He highlighted the importance Arab countries place on strengthening ties with Russia, not only in politics and economics but also in the realm of culture.
Shiltag also revealed that discussions regarding the center's development have occurred at the highest levels, involving Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Secretary-General of the Arab League.
“This center will act as a bridge of friendship between our peoples. Arab countries are deeply committed to building strong relationships with Russia,” he added.
10th St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures
The forum, held from September 11 to 14, 2024, has become a key cultural event, offering a platform for open dialogue on global cultural and humanitarian issues. The central theme of the 2024 forum is “Culture of the 21st Century: Sovereignty or Globalism?” The event includes discussions related to Russia's leadership of BRICS and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as well as international cultural collaboration.
The forum's business agenda features ten thematic sections covering topics such as “The Right to Heritage in a Multipolar World,” “Artificial Intelligence in Culture and National Sovereignty,” and “Cultural Heritage: Traditions and Modernity.” Other areas of focus include cinema, theater, music, and museum culture.
Organized by the Russian government, the Ministry of Culture, and the St. Petersburg government, the forum’s main partner is VEB.RF.
